水力壓裂技術獲得臺灣NMA動畫演繹

水力壓裂技術實際上在幾個月前就得到了臺灣NMA動畫演繹處理,因為人們開始擔心他們的水槽可能會因甲烷汙染而點燃,但我這周才看到。它在總結水力壓裂背後的總體思路方面做得不錯(將大量液體泵入地下以破解岩石,提取天然氣),以及為什麼人們擔心/反對/害怕它可能對地下水造成的影響(你的水槽可能會點燃,沒什麼大不了的)。

鑑於德克薩斯大學奧斯汀分校能源研究所的新報告,製作一個新的動畫,並從科學界更新資訊會很好,即地下水汙染可能不是水力壓裂及相關液體的直接結果,而是可能來自地面液體的溢位。我不確定這些水力壓裂影片是否像這個滑稽的裡克·佩裡待遇那樣病毒式傳播,但是確保向公眾提供最新的(和準確的!)科學資訊與科學本身一樣重要。

David Wogan is an engineer and policy researcher who writes about energy, technology, and policy.

David's academic and professional background includes a unique blend of technology and policy in the field of energy systems. Most recently, David worked at Austin Energy, a Texas municipal utility, implementing a Department of Energy stimulus grant related to energy efficiency. Previously, David was a member of the Energy & Climate Change team at the White House Council on Environmental Quality for the Obama Administration.

David holds two Master's degrees from The University of Texas at Austin in Mechanical Engineering and Public Affairs. While at UT, David was a researcher in the Webber Energy Group, where his research focused on advanced biofuel production to offset petroleum use in the transportation sector. David holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, where he researched nuclear non-proliferation measurement technology.

David is a 2013 Aspen Institute Journalism Scholar, joining a select group of journalists from Slate, ABC News, and The New York Times.
